SABER paper cutters—designed and built by Colter & Peterson—are made to take on your heavy-duty cutting projects. The SABER comes in two models to address standard and large format cutting sizes. The SABER X-15 heavy duty paper cutter is available in cutting sizes of 37, 45, 54, or 62 inches. For wide format cutting needs up 126 inches we offer the SABER XXL. The SABER XXL paper cutter has all the standard features of the SABER X-15 but is available in cutting sizes of 65, 75, 90, 110, or 126 inches.
A SABER paper cutter precise cutting power comes from its double-arm-pull, duel gear box knife drive. The center-actuated clamp insures uniform pressure regardless of pile position.
The advanced microcut 15-inch color touch-screen control system is what makes the SABER go. With only a few keystrokes, operators can save and quickly recall user preferences or the details of any job. The microcut is CIP 3 – 4, JDF ready, and has networking available that requires no extra hardware or software. It gives you the ability to transfer the “cut-block-file” from the prepress software directly to the microcut for gang run and multiple-up jobs. This greatly reduces the operators time to program the cutter, and offers a more efficient cutting program.
Clamp pressure also automatically adjusts on the SABER, or the user can choose to program the clamp pressure themselves. As with all paper cutters, positioning of the back gauge is crucial for precise cutting. The SABER has a ball bearing lead screw with linear guides to make sure every cut is accurate. One of the SABER’s unique features is its patented automatic knife adjustment, this feature allows the operator to quickly and safety change or adjust the knife. This is all done through the microcut control system (not available on 37”(95cm) model).
The SABER features cast iron side tables that provide strength and durability with no interference from the legs. The main and side tables are chromed and as a result require no maintenance. Operator safety is built into the SABER, with infrared safety eye beams and push button safety controls. Foot treadle operation allows for soft clamping and is coupled with an infrared curtain interruption. The safety features are monitored by the microcut system at all times. All SABER paper cutter models meet US machine safety standards and CE safety requirements.
